EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Project Officer, National Youth Choir Australia
(Dec 2000 — present)

Responsibilities

• prime responsibility for administration

• maintain database

• liaise with National Council

• organise annual perfomance season

• develop and implement budget

• promote NYCA to the wider community

• responsible for recruitment of singers

• manage audition process nationally

Achievements
This is a part-time position. National Youth Choir Australia is made up of singers from the whole country meeting for a 2 week season each year. In the short time that I have been in this position I have brought some order to the financial situation, set up an accounting system, set up a database, followed up on some outstanding debts and begun planning for the 2001 and 2002 seasons.

Office Manager/Bookeeper, PnP Solutions Pty Ltd (Melbourne)
(Sep 1998 — Apr 2000)

Responsibilities

• accounts payable and receivable

• general admin duties

• fortnightly payroll

• filing

• superannuation and tax payments

• reception

• banking

• customer help desk

• reconciliation of bank statements

• purchasing

Achievements
As Office Manager in a lean, but geographically and operationally diversified IT consultancy, I was responsible for planning and implementing office procedures and systems, for communication within the company and amongst a panel of consultants in three states, for financial management (including budgeting, funds management, book-keeping and tax compliance) and customer and client relations. During my period of employment, the company grew from 3 to over 20 staff.

Finance and Administrative Officer, NSW Community Services and Health ITAB (Sydney)
(Jan 95 — April 98)Responsibilities

• accounts payable and receivable

• sale of in-house publications

• fortnightly payroll

• wordprocessing

• superannuation and tax payments

• desktop publishing

• preparation of monthly financial reports

• handle customer queries and complaints

• petty cash

• design and maintain website

• reconciliation of bank statements

• design and maintain database

Achievements
This position was initially solely a wordprocessing function. My responsibilities were gradually increased to include desktop publishing, publication sales and bookkeeping.

Prior to my taking over of the bookeeping function publication sales, customer records and petty cash were recorded manually and by different workers. I streamlined the entire finance system by amalgamating all of the various functions with the other accounts records in MYOB while still being able to produce the desired reports. I also customised MYOB and automated many of the tasks.

Working with another staff member I designed the organisation’s website. The resulting web site may be viewed at www.home.aone.net.au/nswcsh.

Although not part of my job, my software expertise meant that I was regularly sought out by other staff to assist them with their computing problems.

The vocational education and training industry is highly complex and full of jargon. White it was not my responsibility nor indeed was it the role of the organisation, my assistance was greatly appreaciated by training providers in helping them understand the complex and bureaucratic process of course accreditation.

Secretary to Campus Coordinator, Australian Catholic University (Melbourne)
(Feb 92 — Feb 94)

Responsibilities

• provide administrative and secretarial support

• coordinate conferences

• wordprocessing

• arrange catering

• compose letters and memoranda

• arrange travel and accommodation

• diary managment

• handle incoming and outgoing mail

• organise appointments

• maintain filing system

• coordinate meetings

• design PR materials and in-house publications

Achievements
In this position I coordinated some large events, including Graduation Day. This involved among other things liaising with venues, caterers, design and production of the program, liaising with staff and students, hiring of academic gowns.

As this was a new position all the administrative systems had to be designed from scratch. I automated many of the day-to-day tasks and designed a filing system which I believe is still in use today.

My technical expertise and strong conceptual ability meant that I was sought out by staff from other departments to assist them with their computing challenges. Many of the macros that I designed to automate my own tasks were taken up and used by other staff.

Executive Assistant (Jan-Jun 90 and Dec 90 — Apr 91)

Australian Boys Choral Insitute (Melbourne)

Responsibilities

• reception and wordprocessing

• management of database

• maintenance of filing system

• servicing of office equipment

• management of mail

• invoicing and receiving payments

• promote and manage communications between Council members and parents

• monitoring and purchase of office supplies

Achievements
In this position I resurrected an antiquated computer system which was thought to be beyond repair. This enabled the Institute to computeris all its worprocessing, database and other record keeping functions, previously done manually. I also implemented a filing system which I believe is still in use today with very little change.

Strong people skills and a good memory for names and faces allowed me to manage very succussfully the complex relationships and communications between Council members, parents and teaching staff.
